Use Text Structure Clues

In this activity made with Encyclopedia Virginia, students analyze text structure clues—such as headings, subheadings, and visuals—to make predictions about a nonfiction text before reading. They examine how these features communicate key ideas and patterns, then use their observations to anticipate the text’s main points and identify areas for further inquiry.
