Amelia Bochain
Amelia Bochain is the Manager of Virginia Civics Programs at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture in Richmond, Virginia, where she coordinates two programs from the Center for Civic Education: We the People and Project Citizen. Her work spans teacher development, K-12 civic programming, and building more civically engaged communities.
Amelia’s practice is grounded in a core belief: that the purpose of education is to create better citizens. To build genuine civic agency in students, she focuses on civil discourse, rigorous project-based learning, and media literacy—tools she has tested and refined over a decade in the classroom, from a Title I high school in Fairfax County to a public middle school in Albemarle County, and now in professional development where she has supported hundreds of educators.
