Allison O’Connor is an award-winning Social Studies educator, curriculum designer, and advocate for innovative history education. Named the 2025 Mount Vernon History Teacher of the Year, she brings her passion for public history into classrooms, museums, and professional learning spaces across the country. As a Master Teacher for the Jamestown Yorktown Foundation and a K-12 Curriculum Designer with the College of William and Mary, Allison develops dynamic resources and professional development that make history meaningful for 21st century learners. She lends her expertise to advisory councils for the National Museum of the American Indian (Smithsonian) and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and currently serves as Vice President-Elect of the Virginia Council for the Social Studies. Allison holds a Master of Education in Secondary Social Studies from the University of Mary Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Museum Studies.
